What it does:
- Fixes the WSOD (White Screen Of Death) associated with the
Pin Lock Applet. (Which Samsung's Lock Applet creates)
- By Changing Samsung's Lock Applet (LAP) to Microsoft's default Applet,
that will allow support for businesses/organizations to enforce you to use Pin
Lock on your device (over their network via Microsoft Exchange).
If used for the company you work for.
To change PPC (Windows Mobile) Registry values you'll need
a registry editor, which can be found here:
TascalSoft (TRE) or
PHM Regedit or you
may use a desktop version, that will allow you to edit your devices' registry
from your desktop PC, via Active sync. Found here:
CeRegEditor v0.0.3.0
MDSoft (Highly Recommended).
So overall you do not need to install the Pin Policy update to fix the Pin
Lock Applet and or the WSOD.
Samsung's description on what it does (quote):
"What Does the PIN Policy Update Do On
My SCH-i730 Handset?
When the patch is applied, it removes support for certain character
entries. This helps enhances support and compatibility with Microsoft products
with the new applet applied."
Download Samsung SCH-i730 (WM5) PIN Policy Update (For
WM5 Only Also no support for this update is no longer provided by Samsung)
